Welcome!
Thank you for visiting our new web site! I would like to tell you a little bit about who the Merchants of the Caspian Gate are, and what we're about. The original "Caspian Gate" was near the present day Caspian Sea. All of the Caravans that traveled between Europe and Asia along the Silk Road had to pass through the Caspian Gate. Needless to say, the area was a center for an enormous diversity of cultures. Everything that was precious in the known world passed through the Gate and art, language, religion, customs were exchanged.

Today, we are attempting to bring you some of the flavor of that time and place. The Merchants search the world for exotic and beautiful items and Otherwear furnishes us with clothing to please a Norman Noble, a Persian Princess, an Ottoman Lord or a Viking Warrior.

We try to choose the best of each type of item, and constantly look for bargains to pass along to you. If there is a product you would like us to carry please send us an e-mail. Enjoy your trip through our web site and we hope you will find that which delights and amazes you!!

Customer Satisfaction is our Goal

The Merchants of the Caspian Gate want you to be happy with your purchases, and the service you receive. We want you to come back and bring your friends!

We Guarantee your satisfaction. If you are not happy with any product you buy from us. Return it unused and undamaged within 30 days and we will refund your purchase price and pay for the shipping.

A note from Otherwear

At Otherwear we manufacture Historical Reproduction Clothing and Accessories. Based in Prescott, Arizona, all of the work is done locally by crafts people who are paid good wages for their excellent work. We don't believe in sweat shops.
We try to use period materials whenever possible and period appearing materials the rest of the time. If we make things that are more "theatrical" than historical, we will label them accordingly. Techniques are modern, but we try to keep a period appearing fit within the bounds of modern comfort. We don't cut corners, and we don't mass produce anything. If we make more than one of something it will be in very short runs and usually different colors and sizes. Most folks don't do this re-enacting thing so that they can look like their neighbor's twin and we want to make sure that doesn't happen because of us. We spend a great deal of time researching the garments we make and even obtain samples whenever possible. (See our Antique Mongolian and Chinese items in the Gallery) We look forward to creating some spectacular Historical Garments for you.
